The aim of pre-operative physiotherapy is first of all to prepare the patient for surgery, which is often indicated only after a certain period of time after the injury.
Once the injury has been diagnosed, we are primarily concerned with alleviating the acute effects of the injury, namely reducing swelling and calming the inflammatory reaction, for which we mainly use physical therapy in the form of laser therapy, electrotherapy, magnetotherapy or kinesiology taping. A very important part of the pre-operative physiotherapy is also the education of the patient about his/her current condition and the related follow-up, which we will address both before and after surgery.
Exercises are mainly focused on maintaining muscle strength and joint stability, which can greatly reduce muscle loss and thus help speed up postoperative rehabilitation.
We mainly focus on pre-operative physiotherapy for knee, shoulder and ankle joint injuries.
